Happy New Year! We are excited about our expansion this year and our renewed commitment to providing the best environment for information security executive peer interaction.
Each new year is an opportunity to be great, and 2012 is no exception. There will no doubt be incredible challenges for each of us to overcome, including increased targeted threats, fast moving new technology adoption, and limited resources. Cyber threats from organized crime and state sponsored hacking is on the rise and awareness of this attack vector is growing. Mobile technology, specifically personally owned devices, are becoming a permanent fixture in our corporate infrastructures. In my casual poll of members toward the end of 2011, security budgets are not on the rise, by any means.
How will you best address these challenges in 2012?
According to our members, one of the most effective ways to meet such challenges is through industry peer interaction. Finding out how peers are solving problems is one of the biggest time savers for all of us. Our members consistently tell us that they have been able to more quickly solve problems because of information they have obtained at our events. I'm not surprised by this; its simply the power of working in numbers. Many heads are better than one.
Regularly attending our Breakfast Roundtables will provide you with valuable ammunition as you attack the challenges of this new year. I encourage you to make a professional committment to attend more of your Chapter Roundtables in 2012. We are asking for only 24 hours of your time over the entire year. 6 roundtables at 4 hours each. That's a small investment for the benefit of meeting with some of the best and brightest security, risk management, audit, and compliance executives in the business.
Make 2012 the year of being more engaged with the CISO Executive Network. Meet more peers, learn more, and be more.
